FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Parastream Technologies Ships PagePorter Professional 1.0
DULUTH, GA – August 2, 2004 – Parastream Technologies announces PagePorter™, a Visual
Studio® .NET add-in and web control suite that integrates the web
site development ease of FrontPage® with the programming might of Visual
Studio .NET to form a truly powerful web application development tool.
PagePorter helps developers create and maintain ASP.NET web sites with unprecedented
speed and ease. With PagePorter handling many of the mundane repetitive tasks, developers
have more time to focus on important design tasks.
PagePorter is a Visual Studio .NET add-in that hosts a Navigation View window that
edits a site's navigation structure, manages a site's hyperlinks so you can move
and rename project files at will without breaking links, converts FrontPage HTML
pages to ASP.NET, including the web controls, and applies FrontPage themes to a
site and/or pages.
PagePorter is a suite of seven ASP.NET web controls that emulate FrontPage web control
functions, and a web page base class (derived from System.Web.UI.Page) that adds
support for shared borders as in FrontPage, support for FrontPage themes, and optional
http/https redirecting for secure web sites.
PagePorter operates with Visual Studio .NET projects in one of three modes
– using FrontPage for layout and design, without using FrontPage at all, or converting
a FrontPage web site to ASP.NET and then using Visual Studio .NET only. By
itself, PagePorter adds real web site development capabilities to Visual Studio .NET
with support for themes, shared borders, hyperlink management, a GUI site navigation
editor, and seven FrontPage compatible web controls. If you want to use FrontPage
with Visual Studio .NET, PagePorter is the component that bridges the gap between
them.
In the IDE, there's a Navigation View tool window for editing the site's navigation
structure. A hyperlink manager and browser keeps track of all of the site's hyperlinks,
so moving and renaming project items around won't break links. FrontPage themes
can be applied to your site or to individual pages. PagePorter is able to convert
your FrontPage HTML pages into web forms, ready to exploit the power of ASP.NET.
FrontPage HTML pages and ASP.NET web forms can be used together in the same project,
and even co-manage the project with Visual Studio .NET and FrontPage.
PagePorter has a class library that supports the run-time and design-time controls.
The web forms base class has been enhanced with new features such as shared borders
and security. There are seven new web forms controls that work like FrontPage controls.
PagePorter works with Visual Studio .NET 2002 or 2003, and supports the Visual Basic
.NET, C#, or Visual J#, languages. Hosted web projects require a web server running
the .NET Framework 1.0 or 1.1, and Microsoft FrontPage Server Extensions.
PagePorter Professional is priced at US $99.95 for a downloadable version, or $119.95
for a CD. There is also a free demo version available on the PagePorter web site.
